Cultural Awards Evening

We celebrated our Cultural Awards with a special evening on 22 September to recognise the talents and achievements of our students, acknowledging cultural excellence, commitment and service and to thank those who volunteer their time to assist with culture at Marsden. Congratulations to all award recipients, what a great year you've had, either performing or behind the scenes - you are amazing! See full list of Cultural Award recipients. (29/09/2016)

Swainson Memorial Concert

The Swainson Memorial Music Concert last night was an extraordinary showcase of our talented musicians and singers. Bravo to vocalist Anabel Jamieson, who won the Betty Swainson Memorial Prize and pianist, Maggie Dai, who was runner up. The Nell Clere Music Scholarship (kindly awarded by the Old Girls' Association) went to violinist, Amira Bajema with Annabelle Jessop, highly commended. Our thanks to adjudicator Michael Stewart, Director of Music at Wellington Cathedral of St Paul, who had the hard job of deciding winners from such amazing performances and also to the family of Gemma New for providing the highly commended prizes. Stage Challenge Photos and Awards

At last Stage Challenge photos and final results are here and it turns out we won 7 Awards of Excellence, not 4 as we originally thought! Our Awards were for Performance Skill, Choreography, Stage Use, Concept, Soundtrack, Costumes and Visual Enhancement - which basically covers everything! For those that don't know, Stage Challenge productions are totally student run, they do everything, so this is an amazing result for our girls. See more photos on our Facebook page and find more details on the Awards as well as the story behind "My Lonely Perception" on our website. (03/08/2016)

Australian Girls Choir workshop

In a lovely addition to the last week of term, 56 girls from the Australian Girls Choir together with Marsden Choirs, treated us to a wonderful choral workshop. Marsden was the last stop on their NZ tour. These girls audition from all over Australia for the Australian School of Performing Arts and it was magic they could share their superb voices with us. The Big Sing
Congratulations to our choirs who performed beautifully at The Big Sing regionals. Altissime received a certificate in Category 2 NZ, Pasifika or Maori music with their gorgeous rendition of Tangaroa Whakamautai. They also won the Dorothy Buchanan cup for category 3 Other Styles, with Lullaby of Birdland (a jazz standard). Our Ad Summa choir received a certificate for their category 1 performance of 'The Lord Bless You And Keep You'. We find out if we are through to Nationals on 1st July, fingers crossed!  (16/06/2016)
