2017 Term 4 News

Week 8

It was heartwarming to see the surprise and joy on the faces of our Preschool students when Santa and his band of merry helpers visited by tractor to deliver a little bag of treats. Christmas is a really special time of year! See more photos in the Week 8 media gallery (07/12/2017)

Week 7

The countdown to Christmas is on and this week Preschool celebrated the season with a 'Red and Green Dressup Day'. See more photos in the Week 7 media gallery. (30/11/2017)

Week 6

Marsden Primary Year 1 teacher Shelley Dalton came with her class to collect our oldest Preschool girls for a school visit. It's always a special moment for us knowing we have prepared them for the next step in their learning and we will enjoy seeing them as big Year 1s next year! We were also happy to see wonderful collaboration from our students working as a team to sweep up sand from the play area into a wheelbarrow and then tip it down a bank. Hopefully the custodian is happy with where they've tipped it! Another happy week, see more pictures in the Week 6 media gallery. (24/11/2017)

Week 5
Marsden Preschool rainbow physics
Taking advantage of the beautiful sunny days our students had fun with physics creating wonderful rainbows outside using a CD, sunlight and a shady wall. Bike Day was a chance for students to bring in their own set of wheels for a ride on the tennis courts and complete the obstacle course. Before setting off they decorated their helmets, we discussed keeping safe on bikes and also looked at the science of balance. This is the hypothesis they came up with 'You have to keep moving to balance on a bike' and after their ride they could definitely confirm this! Another great week. See the week 5 media gallery for more pictures. (17/11/2017)

Week 4

With the lovely Spring weather Preschool students have enjoyed getting out on their scooters and putting their riding skills to the test. We've also had them 'leaping like tuna fish' and other sea creatures as we apply our undersea enquiry across all aspects of our days. Inside it's been great to see some wonderful mixed media painting, particularly by the boys. See more photos in the week 4 media gallery. (09/11/2017)

Week 3

A trip to see the Capital E performance of "Songs of the Sea" at Hannah Playhouse has sparked the next enquiry topic for Preschool as they look at things under the sea.  The puppet show about NZ sea creatures was well done and our students really enjoyed it.  They have been listening to seashells, reading books to identify sea creatures and we have set up a nature table for them. What was really interesting was, not what they already knew about sea creatures (which was quite a lot), but what they wanted to find out about them ... 'How do jellyfish eat their food? How do dolphins jump out of the water? How do crabs pinch people?' just some of the questions posed. It's going to be a fascinating term discovering the answers. See more photos in the week 3 media gallery. (02/11/2017)

Week 2

The highlight for us this week was the Primary/Preschool Athletics Day on Tuesday. Blue skies and high spirits were a winning combination and our Preschoolers really enjoyed themselves. There were sprints, coit throwing, sack races, egg and spoon, the obstacle course and the water bucket relay challenge. We are so proud of them all, they gave each of the events a go and some of them were quite challenging for our students. It was also lovely to have parents and Primary students there supporting them. A great day! See more photos in the week 2 media gallery. (26/10/2017)

Week 1

Easing into Term 4 has been easy with the lovely weather this week. Preschoolers relished their time in the Primary playground and outside in the sandpit. Being Chinese Language Week they learnt how to recognise Chinese numbers with our specialist Chinese Teacher and enjoyed make different bird noises during their music lesson with Jenny Gould. A great start to the term. See more photos in the week 1 media gallery. (18/10/2017)
