Samuel Marsden Collegiate School Scholarships


The following is a list of scholarships available at Marsden Karori. 

Year 4 and 6 Primary Scholarships 
Year 7 Academic Excellence 
Year 9 Academic Excellence 
Year 9 Cultural or Sporting Excellence 
Year 9 Marsden Old Girls’ Association Scholarship 
Years 11 and 12 General Excellence Scholarships 
Years 11 and 12 Excellence in Sports Scholarships 
Year 12 Senior School Scholarship (Helen Davidson Award)


Scholarship applications for 2018 open on 1 February 2017 and close on 18 May. The Scholarship examination (if applicable) will be held on Saturday 27 May. Year 11 and 12 Scholarships are open until 7 July 2017. For details and online application form see our main School Scholarship page.

The Year 7, 9, Marsden Old Girls' Association, 'The Gwyn and Kelvin Day' and 'Nell Clere' Scholarships are available to current students: 

The Gwyn and Kelvin Day Scholarship
This Scholarship may be awarded by the Principal to a student already attending Marsden, whose family is experiencing short term financial hardship. Please contact the Principal.

The Nell Clere Music Scholarship
Awarded by the Old Girls' Association on the basis of performance at the annual Betty Swainson Memorial Concert, this Scholarship assists with Music Tuition. Marsden students in Years 7 to 12, learning music outside the School as well as those learning at Marsden are eligible. Please contact Mrs Marian Campbell, Director of Music. 

Additional scholarships may be offered at the Principal's discretion.

External Scholarships
Ministry of Education Aspire Scholarships

The Aspire Scholarship provides assistance for low income families towards the cost of private secondary schooling. It will contribute up to $15,000 per year towards tuition fees of a private school for the duration of the student’s attendance.  It will also include a yearly allowance of up to $1,500 for course related costs.

Mihingare (Anglican) Secondary School Scholarships
The Mihingare (Anglican) Secondary School Scholarships are for Maori secondary school students who demonstrate financial need, leadership qualities/potential and a satisfactory educational background, and who will benefit from additional financial support for their secondary schooling. Each year, a maximum of 30 scholarships worth up to $10,000 each are offered.
