Musical Accolades for Bria Renai

Congratulations to Bria Renai who is one of only 60 students in NZ to be selected for the prestigious NZ Secondary School Choir and the Wellington Youth Sinfonietta (flute section). This is a major achievement for Bria to be part of a very select group of musicians and singers. Bria is currently a member of several Marsden choirs, as well as playing in the Flute Ensemble and Marsden Orchestra. She received a sound appreciation of choral singing as part of the Wellington Cathedral Choir (2009-14) becoming Head Chorister in 2013/14. We wish Bria all the best with her music in the busy years ahead. (30/03/2015)

Confucius Institute Scholarship for Old Girl

Old Girl, Amanda Cundy is taking time out from her BA studies at Victoria University (where she is majoring in Psychology, Criminology and Chinese) to take up a full Confucius Institute Scholarship at Xiamen University studying Chinese Language and Chinese History for one semester and working towards achieving Level 5 HSK during this time.  The university is very welcoming to international students and she has found the classes to be ‘incredibly stimulating’. While at Marsden Amanda visited Xiamen on a school trip and vowed she would return. We are delighted to hear she has fulfilled this dream and wish her well with her studies. (30/03/2015)

William Pike Year 8 Challenge

What an inspirational presentation from amputee William Pike at the Year 8 evening last night. He recounted the horrors of losing his leg following an eruption on Mt Ruapehu and how learning how to walk and do everyday things in the aftermath inspired the William Pike Challenge our Year 8 students are now undertaking. They must complete 8 outdoor activities, develop a new hobby and do community service. Truly an inspiration. (25/02/2015)

Y12s made steady improvement throughout the day coming second in their last race - a good omen for the Dragon Boat Festival on 15 March. (24/02/2015)

Welcome to the start of 2015

The start to the school year was especially sweet for some. Year 13 students Rachel Witkowski and Kirstie Baker made an amazing cake to welcome the Year 12 students to the common room. It took them 5 hours to create and we think it is absolutely stunning. (03/02/2015)
