Term 1 News 2016

Week 10

Preschool had  a fabulous sunny Wellington day for their transport trip this week. Busing to the train station they caught the train to Johnsonville with all it's different stops and tunnels. There was time for a quick play at the wonderful Johnsonville playground before taking the return trip back to school. (12/04/2016)

Week 8

Marsden Preschool students
practiced their dough making skills to make yummy Hot Cross Buns for Easter, mixing, kneading and piping crosses onto their buns before baking and eating them hot from the oven! Bet they tasted wonderful! (23/03/2016)

Week 7

The highlight for this week was the Palm Monday parade with Primary Students and Tilly the donkey from Zippity Zoo Mobile Petting Zoo. The Sunday before Easter is known as Palm Sunday. It celebrates Jesus' triumphant arrival in Jerusalem cheered on by crowds waving palm branches. The people were very excited ... and so were our Primary and Preschool students who followed Tilly, singing and waving their palm fronds all the way into the Marsden Chapel. Tilly, was a bit of a star behaving so well in the Chapel as the children sang and listened to Chaplain, Sarah King, tell the gospel story. Week 6

Perhaps they were inspired by visiting the main block rebuild, or perhaps it was the installation of the weatherproof window by the carpentry table - but whatever it is our Preschoolers have been enthusiastically hammering away this week. We also made sandpit volcanoes, enjoyed buddy reading with Primary students and had a sausage sizzle with mums and dads - it's been a really great week.

Week 5

The big focus for Preschool this week has been Bike and Scooter day. The children decorated their bike helmets and some even decorated their bikes in preparation for the big ride. The honed their skills riding between the cones and once they had finished that they drew pictures of their bicycles in chalk on the courts.

Week 4

The creative team from Science of Bubbles came and presented a fabulous show for Preschool and Primary students. There's something magical about bubbles, especially the huge ones they formed, the look on our students' faces said it all. We also continued our theme of healthy eating by inviting our parents to a fruit and vegetable party on Thursday afternoon. Our parents went to a lot of effort to make the most appetising platters and kebabs - they went down a treat, thank you!

Week 3

Our students have chosen a new topic for the term, it is, in their words "Eating proper" we like to call it "Healthy Eating"! So this week they have been involved in creating their afternoon fruit platters. We also set up a Fruit & Vegetable Shop for them to buy and sell healthy food. It proved so popular the bank (Mrs Cave) ran out of play money and had to convince the shop owner to bank some! Some great life lessons learned here! We have also taken advantage of the summer weather to have a water play day which was fabulous wet fun! See more photos in the media gallery at right.

What a great start to the Term for Preschool.

As well as all the usual activities like block building, painting and water play, students enjoyed making dumplings with parent Inge Schnabel and brought their special Teddy in for a Teddy Bear's Picnic together with Primary Students in Years 1-3.

Professor Marc Schnabel has taken a very enjoyable German lesson and we have checked out the main block rebuild which is progressing really quickly now.
