Term 4 Preschool News

Week 9

The big news in our final week was the visit to Preschool and Primary students by Santa and his helpers. He arrived on the Marsden tractor and distributed little bags of treats to some very excited children. We've had a fabulous term and we want to wish all our Preschool families a happy festive season, hopefully you can relax and enjoy this special time and we look forward to seeing you in 2017! (09/12/2016)

Week 8

Preschool is celebrating the festive season as the count down to Christmas begins! We had a Christmas inspired dress-up day and even the teachers dressed up which was really fun. Then after hearing the Christmas Story, our children created a spontaneous nativity play. They dressed up and assigned roles to re-enact the Bible story, choosing our youngest student to be Baby Jesus. Along with Mary and Joseph, 3 angels and 3 Kings with camels, they put on a really thoughtful performance.  And then there was great interest when a 'real new baby' arrived, it was Joy's three week old little sister on her first Preschool visit. It's been a very happy week! See more photos in the media gallery. (01/12/2016)

Week 7

This week at Preschool has been all about making the most of the fine weather. It was bike day on Monday and our students really enjoyed zooming around the courts on their wheels. We also planted marigolds in the lettuce trough to keep the bugs away. See more photos in the Week 7 media gallery. (24/11/2016)

Week 6

In a week somewhat out of the ordinary with earthquakes and storms, it's been 'business as usual' in Preschool. Students have been really engaged with their exploration of dramatic play, hospitals, the fire engine, driving the bus and camping out in it.  They've also made fabulous jewel, alien and robot masks and taken every opportunity to get outside and play when it is fine. See more photos in the Week 6 media gallery at right. (18/11/2016)

Week 5

Another week of fun and excitement for Preschool, especially around discovery time with Primary students when they made delicious pikelets with jam and sprinkles and created pavement chalk art. They enjoyed another session with Rugby Tots and learnt how to fall on the ball when scoring a try! There were some really good shapes created with play dough and Year 5s did an amazing job choosing just the right books for buddy reading. See more images in the media gallery.  (09/11/2016)

Week 4

This week during Discovery time with Y1-3 Primary students, our Preschoolers tried the art of Rangoli, which is often created during traditional Diwali festivities. Rangoli is an art form in which patterns are made using non-permanent materials such as colored rice, dry flour, colored sand or flower petals. Engineering with My Food Boxes was a great source of fun as was the once a term sausage sizzle with parents at the end of last week. On Monday our students joined Primary for Athletics Sports on the main playing field enjoying activities such as sack races, egg and spoon, water relay races, throwing challenges and sprints. A fun day in the sun!  See more photos in the media gallery. (02/11/2016)

Week 3

Preschool's trip to the Hannah Playhouse to see Capital E's performance of Shu's Song was a huge hit. This non-verbal show used sound, music and puppetry to tell the story of Shu who discovers the secret life of everyday objects in a home office and our students loved it, they laughed so much. Inspired by this they enjoyed using office stationery in new and creative ways, painting with bubblewrap  is great fun. With the weather being very Springlike, first wet then fine, we have been practicing inside for Athletics Day next week, and outside we've discovered what's been springing up in the garden, the cherry blossom is gorgeous. See more photos in the media gallery. (27/10/2016)

Weeks 1 and 2

Welcome to Grace Liu, a student teacher in her 2nd year at Victoria, who will be with us in Preschool for 6 weeks. Spring has arrived and with it bursts of promising weather and a chance for our preschoolers get outside in the sandpit and make use of all the outdoor equipment.  The exploration topic this term is "make believe" and our students have been busy letting their imagination go wild making colourful crowns and masks. See more photos in the media gallery. (19/10/2016)
