Information on Marsden School Bus Services

Metlink Buses

Marsden and Metlink run bus services from the Wellington suburbs to Marsden and return. The buses arrive and depart from the Vera Street entrance. Younger children can be buddied with an older student travelling on the same bus. Please speak to your child’s teacher to arrange this.

There is a duty teacher who monitors the children as they leave Marsden at the end of the day. Please check individual routes for departure and arrival times.

See links on this page for detailed routes and timetables.
* Marsden only buses
For other details phone Metlink on (04) 801 7000. This is a free telephone enquiry service which operates 24hrs, 7 days with the exception of Christmas Day. If you live outside the Wellington free call area, you can also contact Metlink on 0800 801 7000.

#677 Route Change Island Bay October 2019

This is to advise that Metlink have made the following change to the Route 677 School service from Monday 14 October, Term 4 – 2019.

There has been a route change and improvement; the current route travels via Britomart Street which is very narrow and involves a difficult intersection for buses. The route  is adjusted and will no longer use Britomart Street. Timetable change will now have this bus  departing 15 minutes earlier from Island Bay. Currently it is 7.35am and will now depart at 7.20am.

Cancelled Metlink Route #670 January 2020 – Replaced by Private Marsden Bus servicing:

Seatoun, Strathmore Park, Miramar, Kilbirnie, Hataitai, Roseneath, Oriental Parade, Railway Station, Northland

Marsden has hired a private bus to cover the route previously served by Metlink school bus #670 (Kilbirnie-Hataitai-Roseneath-Thorndon) which was cancelled for 2020 by Metlink.

After surveying Marsden families, considering demand for bus services in different neighborhoods of Wellington, and factoring in distance, timing, cost, and the safety of our students, the hiring of a private Marsden bus was considered the best option available.  Full information, including routes and fees.
