Food Technology

The Food Technology programme offer study in both the technology processes of food production and health and wellbeing through nutrition and diet. 

Students are encouraged to think about how food choices made by individuals and families affect all aspects of their health.Junior learning programmes introduce basic cookery terms and techniques, enabling students to build an understanding of what contributes toward a healthy lifestyle, while developing knowledge, skills and understanding of food product development and the associated processes and practices.

The Year 9 half year semester options allow students to investigate aspects of International or Local Cuisine, with a focus around either cultural influences on food choices or sourcing and working with local ingredients.

Senior NCEA programmes focus on the Home Science curriculum and aspects of how culture and community affect food choices and dietary needs.
At Year 12, students also receive industry training in preparing and presenting beverages in the food service environment towards a Level 2 Barista Certificate.
