It is important to us to recognise the success of our students in (school and external) cultural, sport and other activities. Please email if your daughter has achieved something throughout the year that should be celebrated. Please cc in Sarah Wilson, Cultural Coordinator if it is a cultural achievement and Kathryn Petrie if it is a sporting achievement

If you are able to send high resolution (largest size) photos that would also be much appreciated.

Marsden Communications

We have a number of ways of keeping you up to date with what is happening at Marsden including our weekly emailed newsletter (Fridays), the 'MyMarsden' parent website and the Portal (where you can find your child's specific details), the School App, email, Facebook, Youtube, Instagram, Preschool and Primary media galleries and more:

MyMarsden – This is the website for parents/caregivers, students, and Old Girls. Please scroll through the menus to familiarise yourself with the school information available. MyMarsden is where you will find all the day to day bits of information to help with life at Marsden e.g. the weekly year group notices, the school calendar, school news, uniform details, stationery/digital device details, the link for the Portal, a link to the Sport website, exam information, career information, staff email addresses, Marsden Parents' Association (MPA) and Old Girls information. The direct link to MyMarsden is here.

MyMarsden Portal – You need to login in to the MyMarsden portal (details will be emailed to you when you first start). The portal gives you to access your child’s timetable, subject list and reports. Your accounts details, invoices and receipts can also be viewed here.  Each parent/caregiver who has indicated to the school that they wish to receive student/school information, will have their own login.  You can access the portal from the MyMarsden home page (the portal is the green button with spider web on it).

School calendar – this is located at the bottom of the MyMarsden home page.

School App - Our School App allows for efficient and timely communications of school information. It is compatible with Apple and Android devices. Please download it (search for SchoolApps NZ) if you have not already done so. You can choose your notification groups once you are in the App – just go to the menu on your App, choose ‘Notice Subscriptions’ and tick the appropriate buttons.

Marsden Newsletter – We email out a weekly newsletter every Friday (please check your spam folder if you are not receiving this or contact us on 476 8707) with a message from the Principal, school news, student achievements, a link to the School Calendar, a link to your year group notices and MPA and community notices. The Marsden Newsletter is the best way to keep up to date with information and events at school, which apply to your child. The Marsden Newsletter is sent via email and via the School App. Note: if you cannot open links from the school newsletter on your mobile device please check whether you have the latest operating system, or try opening in another browser e.g. Google Chrome.

CareMonkey - This is the parent driven system that we use to collect medical and emergency information, trip permission slips and forms for dissemination. The system provides you with a secure way to share necessary medical information required by Marsden. If you are a new parent to Marsden you will receive an email from CareMonkey to register your details. Please update CareMonkey if your contact details or your child’s medical details change.

SchoolTV - We know parenting doesn't come with instructions, that's why we are delighted to offer SchoolTV, a convenient 24/7 resource to support modern-day parenting. SchoolTV gives access to loads of information with realistic and practical strategies.

Your child's safety

Police vetting

The school endeavours to provide the safest possible environment for students. Staff are police checked and the school requires any adults with responsibility for, or contact with, students to agree to a police check or to sign a self-declaration form. This includes parents who volunteer to coach or manage a sports team or cultural group, who accompany a school field trip, accompany camps etc. The staff member involved with the activity will provide the appropriate forms to volunteers or these can be obtained directly from Alison McManus, EA to the Principal

The names of all adult volunteers will be made available to the parents of all students participating in any trip, excursion, sports, cultural activity or camp. This may be via a further letter or email to parents if a first letter is sent seeking volunteers. If a parent has concerns about the suitability of any volunteer (from a student safety perspective) they should first raise this with the staff member arranging the activity.

Civil Defence and Emergency

In an emergency the school will look after all pupils until they can be collected. Please note that in a civil defence situation, only caregivers or those people you have specifically named as emergency contacts can collect your daughter or son from school. This applies to all students from Preschool to Year 13. It would be particularly helpful if one of your emergency contacts was someone who lived locally.

Each year you are asked to check your contact details and the emergency contacts you have provided. Please take the opportunity to update this information with the school so that it is accurate in case of a civil defence emergency.

If there is an emergency situation please refer to the Marsden website and ensure your are signed up to our School App. We will endeavour to keep you up to date via these and email where possible.

Safety around cars

Please do not drive in the school grounds when delivering or collecting children. Pupils must be dropped outside the school grounds at all times unless special arrangements have been made.
As there have been a number of ‘close calls’ involving cars and students, the Vera Street entrance is closed from 3pm–4pm and the Donald Street entrance is closed from 8am–4pm for safety reasons. The Marsden Ave entrance is also closed at the start and end of the school day.

Please respect our neighbours and avoid turning into their driveways whenever possible. Some of our neighbours have reported damage to their drive and surrounding grass edges. We also ask that drivers observe all yellow ‘no stopping’ lines.

Marsden Parents' Association

The Marsden Parents’ Association (MPA) is a great way to meet other families from school and support the school in a range of events.

The MPA assists the school with:

•    dances, mainly through providing adult supervision on the night
•    coordinating year group get-togethers and communication
•    administering the second hand uniform Facebook page
•    catering at special events, such as the Open Day in May
•    fundraising - our main event is the Gala to be held again in 2021.

Without the help and support of the MPA many of these events could not happen. The more people we have to help the lighter the load for everyone. If you are interested in supporting the MPA send us an email at We would love to see you there.
